When it came
time to make the Body we went to a company that builds car bodies,
not boats. Our bodies are made using the state-of-the art resin
infusion system. The fiberglass cloth is laid in the mold and then
the resin is injected. Vacuum is applied to remove the air and form
the cloth and resin to the mold. This process, while expensive,
is the high tech way to build fiberglass bodies. After the bodies
are made, they are heat-cured in the mold for hours at 160 degrees
and then left in the mold an additional 48 hours to insure curing.
The hood, doors, and trunk lid have finished inner liners, not raw
fiberglass. When you get our kit, the body is ready to paint. There
is no need to put it out in the sun for a couple of months to cure.
